When returning Olympic gold medalist Dawn Harper crossed the finish line of the women’s 100-meter hurdles, she probably thought it was her moment. Her blazing time of 12.73 seconds made her, once again, the fastest female hurdler in America. She should be the face of women’s 100-meter hurdles.

Freshman breaks four minutes in mile run
The Nittany Lions are continuing to make history. This past weekend freshman Robert Creese broke the four-minute mile at the Flotrack Husky Classic at the University of Washington. Creese finished the mile in 3:59.52, leaving him in second place just behind Princeton’s Peter Callahan’s 3:58.

It was a summer of firsts for the U. Central Florida women’s track team. From winning its first conference championship to fielding its first outdoor All-American, the team certainly enjoyed a historical summer.

Indiana track and field coach Ron Helmer had high hopes for pole-vaulter Kelsie Ahbe before her freshman season began. “Coach (Jake) Wiseman has been impressed with Kelsie’s competitive spirit and athleticism,” Helmer said.

Demps claims 100-meter title; men’s team sits in second
“Finish the mission” has been the U. Florida Gators’ motto all season, Jeff Demps ran so fast no one even had time to look up what the mission was. Demps won the 100-meter dash with a blazing time of 9.96 at the 2010 NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore.

Texas A&M women & men win second straight national championships
Texas A&M’s track and field teams won the second straight outdoor national title, although the two teams took different routes to get there. The Aggie women won 72 points over the weekend, defeating second place Oregon by 15 points.
