FAQ

What is UWire?

UWire is the largest college news and press release distribution service. With over 600 college newspapers and hundreds of additional college media outlets, UWire provides the best way for your press release to appear through college media outlets, including college newspapers (both print and online), college radio stations, college television networks and college blogs across the web.

How can I sign my newspaper up for membership in UWire?

E-mail us to receive a membership application packet. The general manager, faculty adviser or editor-in-chief of the paper needs to fill it out, sign it and send it back. Once we receive it, you can immediately begin utilizing content from the wire service.

Where can I find articles to use in my print publication?

You can check out the content posted on UWire.com. You can also subscribe to section-by-section RSS feeds to have updated lists of stories sent right to your feed reader. We have feeds available for Arts & Entertainment, News, Opinion and Sports. We also periodically send out e-mail newsletters to members who opt-in to our e-mail service. These highlight some of the most interesting content available on the wire that day.

Can I post articles off the wire on my paper’s website?

We respectfully ask that you do not post the full text of articles from other member papers on your site. If you find an article from another outlet that you think might be great for your website, we ask that you include a headline and no more than two paragraphs of text and then provide a link back to the article on the originating member’s site. This helps drive traffic and ad revenue between college papers. UWire provides a link back to the original article at the bottom of every story we run, so it’s easy for you to find and share.
