Students and faculty who were present at the encampment early Sunday morning are being barred from entering campus. Though no arrests were made, their student ID numbers, driver’s license information and home addresses were recorded as the Department of Public Safety and Los Angeles Police Department dispersed the protest at Alumni Park.

At this time, it is unclear if the ban also applies to those arrested at the initial encampment April 24.

Several faculty members, who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of retribution, alleged that restrictions placed on their entrances were not related to arrest status and had more to do with their race and ethnicity. They alleged that several Black Faculty in Residence, who live on campus, were not allowed to return to their homes during last night’s campus lockdown while other white Faculty in Residence were not stopped. The University did not provide a reason as to why some faculty were barred from entering, the sources said.

Some also alleged Black individuals and hijabi women were experiencing undue scrutiny at campus entrances.

The University did not immediately respond to the Daily Trojan’s request for comment.
