It was a successful week for Pitt State, as they bounced back from being swept by #3 Central Missouri with four wins in a row, taking a win on Tuesday versus Emporia before sweeping Missouri Western during the weekend. With the wins, they now sit at 27-14, heating up at the right time as the end of the season approaches.

Starting on Tuesday, the Gorillas traveled to Emporia, KS, to take on the Hornets. It was a tight game, as the Gorillas overcame an early 3-0 deficit to win 6-5. Holding a 5-3 lead in the seventh, the Gorillas were unable to pull away, as the Hornets tied it in the bottom of the eighth. Pitt State scored one more run at the top of the ninth in order to gain the win.

Mozley drove the Gorillas offense, with 4 RBI off of 3 hits, including the game winner in the ninth. Senior Jake Grauberger scored off of the game winning hit, doubling twice and scoring three total runs during the game. Junior Tanner Leslie pitched in relief, picking up four outs to claim the win for the Gorillas.

On Friday, Pitt State took another win, 9-4 over the Missouri Western Griffons. Pitt State got the lead early and didn’t let go, scoring four runs in the first two innings. Missouri Western scored three runs in the eighth to cut the lead to 4-6, but Pitt State answered in the bottom of the inning to secure the victory.

Mozley once again led the offense, hitting a solo homer in the first inning and an RBI double later in the game off of two hits. Grad student Dylan Kurahashi-Choy Foo had two hits in the contest, including a two run hit in the eighth to keep the game in hand. Grauberger added a run scoring single and junior Josh Holmes hit a two run double. Leslie pitched into the eighth inning, picking up the win.

The Saturday game went much the same, as the Gorillas led 5-0 before the Griffons were able to find the scoreboard. The Griffons briefly tied it at the top of the eighth, 5-5, before the Gorillas offense exploded for six runs in the bottom of the inning.

Holmes drew a walk, setting up Mozley for a massive hit to left field to put Pitt State on top. Junior Hayden Dyer and Grauberger each had an RBI in the inning while junior Joe Hamilton had a run scoring grounder as well. Freshman Landon Reith pitched in relief, following junior starter Gage Singer who limited the Griffons to two hits in five innings.
