Spring is in the air! Unfortunately, so are the scams. 

When going about your daily activities, be extra cautious about everyone around you and who (or what) could be potential for trouble.Trust me. 

I was recently on my regular routine, which consists of school, cleaning, cooking dinner and then going to the gym later in the night. Going to work out late gives me time to reflect on the day and get some much-needed personal time to work hard and gain clarity about being a student and a mom.

In the middle of my recent set, an alert came up on my iPhone that an Apple Airtag was detected on me and was seen moving with me for a significant amount of time. I was immediately alarmed because I do not own an Apple Airtag. 

Safe to say, I was too distracted and downright creeped out to finish my workout. I did not feel safe, so I asked an employee to walk me to my car. 

The Airtag did track my location back to my house, and it was very alarming because I do have a child to worry about. I made a report with the Pueblo Police Department and learned that they are aware of these scams and potential human sex trafficking going on here in Pueblo. 

So again, always make sure to know your surroundings and be aware when you are out in public. Knowing what is right or wrong and following your instincts could very well mean the difference between life and death.

Please be aware of what’s happening around you when walking to dorms, and make sure to reach out to campus security for any time that you don’t feel safe. Taking that extra precaution is not overreacting: Staying safe is the key!
