Lower-income families within the Berkeley Unified School District can receive free or reduced price meals for their children throughout the upcoming school year.

Berkeley Unified School District will provide nutritious meals each school day for children from lower-income households throughout the school year, as announced Thursday.

The programs will provide a child with free or reduced price meals if their household income is lower than or equal to federal guidelines. The meals are being served under the National School Lunch Program, the School Breakfast Program and the Afterschool Snack Program from July 1, 2020, to June 30, 2021.

Households that do not receive a notification letter from the district saying their children qualify for free or reduced price meals can apply for the meals online or by dropping off an application at the district’s Nutrition Services office.
