Bears add first linebacker to class of 2021

The Bears added their 11th commit Sunday, as linebacker Moses Oladejo from Elk Grove, California, committed to Cal.

The blue and gold were relatively late to the game — they were one of the last teams to give Oladejo an offer, which came June 10 — but it mattered little as the 6’2” Cosumnes Oaks High School product picked Cal over numerous Division I schools, including Pac-12 rivals Arizona and Colorado.

Recruited by co-defensive coordinator Peter Sirmon, Oladejo primarily plays outside linebacker, though the Bears have found success moving defenders between positions. Star linebacker Kuony Deng was recruited as an outside linebacker out of junior college, before he found success at inside linebacker in his debut season at Cal.

Rated as a three star recruit by both Rivals and 247Sports, Oladejo adds to an already talented Cal football class of 2021 and, according to 247Sports, gives the Bears the No. 4 class in the Pac-12 and the No. 39 class in the nation.

The blue and gold may now shift their focus to adding more players to the class of 2021. In the nation’s top 50 classes, only Auburn and Georgia have recruited fewer players, as COVID-19 concerns have spurred earlier commitments.
