In an email to staff, Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost Paul Alivisatos announced Thursday that no proposed appointments or reappointments of lecturers were turned down, making lecturers once again exempt from the hiring freeze.

The change was made, according to the email, because staff reported that reviews of lecturer appointments were “burdensome.” Campus spokesperson Janet Gilmore added in an email that reviews conducted of the proposed appointments showed they are vital to fulfilling campus’s educational mission.
