Nevaeh DeSouza was named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year for gymnastics. She was also honored with an All-Pac-12 All-Around First Team selection.

This is the second year in a row that a Cal freshman has been crowned the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year — in 2019, the honor belonged to Milan Clausi.

After DeSouza competed as an all-arounder at all 10 meets this season, the freshman from Fairfield led the Cal team in points, scoring a total of 392.875.

DeSouza’s title is one of many all-conference honors bestowed to the Bears following the season’s premature end: Maya Bordas received All-Around First Team and Bars First Team; Kyana George received All-Around First Team, Vault First Team and an honorable mention for balance beam; Clausi received Vault First Team and Emi Watterson received an honorable mention for uneven bars.

Eight All-Pac-12 honors is a record high for the Cal women’s gymnastics program.
