After a 16-year career on the professional tour, former Cal women’s tennis student-athlete Raquel Atawo will join head coach Amanda Augustus’ staff as a volunteer assistant coach.

“I’m looking forward to being back at Cal,” Atawo said in a statement. “I’m really excited to learn from Amanda and Zack (Warren) as I begin my coaching career. I’ve met many of the girls on the team, and they are a great group with a special team spirit. I hope I can have a positive influence on the team and bring some of my experiences on the professional tour to Cal tennis.”

Atawo recently competed in the US Open. She won 18 WTA double titles and was ranked No. 10 in doubles in 2015.

Cal will be hoping the alumnus will have a positive impact on the program that she once graduated from.
