Cal baseball’s Andrew Vaughn has once again been recognized for his slugging prowess, being named one of 25 semifinalists for the 2019 Golden Spikes Award.

Vaughn has continued to cement his case as one of the best hitters in program history this season, hitting .374 with 14 home runs and 47 RBI. The first baseman’s on-base percentage and on-base percentage both rank fourth and 17th in the country, respectively, as well.

Since being named to the Golden Spikes midseason watchlist on April 10, Vaughn has been on quite the hot streak, recording a hit in 17 of 18 games with a .418 batting average.

Vaughn was one of five players in the Pac-12 to be named a semifinalist, conference contemporaries Hunter Bishop, Spencer Torkelson, Ryan Garcia and Andy Rutschman.

The finalists for the Golden Spikes Award will be announced May 29 and the winner will be announced June 14.
