National Weather Service issues warning for high winds, dry conditions

The National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning — “due to high winds and dry conditions” — for the East Bay Hills, to last from Monday through Tuesday night, according to a Nixle alert sent at about 3:30 p.m. Monday.

According to the alert, the warning spans the North Bay Hills, East Bay Hills and the Diablo Range. Wind speeds are expected to reach over 20 miles per hour and as high as 50 miles per hour in areas of over 1,000 feet in elevation, such as in the East Bay Hills.

“Any fire that starts will be spread rapidly,” the alert said. “Stay alert for local weather and news updates and follow the directions of local Fire Officials.”
