Berkeley Police Department arrested one man about noon Friday after receiving reports of gunfire at Berkeley Marina, as first reported by Berkeleyside.

Oakland resident Perry Lee Jackson, 39, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and “drug-related charges,” according to Berkeleyside. The article stated that an “exchange of gunfire” occurred between Jackson and a black compact sedan, and Jackson jumped into the water to avoid the gunfire.

According to the article, Jackson was allegedly found to have cocaine and heroin in his possession and was taken to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Berkeleyside said the investigation is still ongoing.
