The Oregon Ducks (25-25, 11-14 Pac-12) fell 12-4 against No. 17 UCLA (33-17, 16-9 Pac-12) on Friday afternoon. The Bruins offense was firing on all cylinders in the fourth and sixth innings, scoring four and then seven runs, respectively.

Kenyon Yovan started the game for Oregon. He pitched five innings, struck out six and gave up seven runs on seven hits. He also scored the first run of the game in the second inning after leading off with a single, then came home later after a UCLA throwing error. The Bruins had two errors on the game.

One of the mores notable plays from the Ducks was when right fielder Jakob Goldfarb saved a run by throwing a runner out at home plate. It was the seventh assist of the season for Goldfarb, and the twelfth of his career, a new modern era Oregon record.

After watching Oregon score first, UCLA responded without delay. They scored four runs in just five hits in the bottom of the third inning. Left fielder Jeremy Ydens hit a two-run triple to tie the game before the Bruins took the lead for good after short stop Kevin Kendall doubled the following at-bat.

With one out in the sixth inning, Oregon tied the game after a Gabe Matthews hit a two-run double, driving in Spencer Steer and Kyle Kasser. Once again, UCLA responded, this time shutting the door for good. The next inning saw the Bruins score seven runs from wild pitches off pitcher Parker Kelly, who threw three in the inning. The first two batters were hit by pitches. Kevin Kendall hit another two-run triple to seal the deal. It was one of UCLA’s thirteen hits for the game.

The Ducks will look to tied the series tomorrow in Los Angeles at 1:30 p.m.
