Following a bowl win and the departure of now-Rams quarterback Jared Goff, the Cal football team will look to prove that it can survive without the talents of the number one overall pick. Though it’s unlikely that this year’s iteration of the Bears will reach a bowl game, the program will still be eager to prove that it can sustain any positive steps it took last season.

At the very least, Cal started 2016 off on the right foot Friday against Hawaii. Behind starting quarterback Davis Webb, the Bears took advantage of the Rainbow Warriors’ weak defense, which spent most of the inaugural game of the college football season struggling to keep Cal in check. Wide receiver Chad Hansen tortured the Rainbow Warriors’ defensive backs throughout the game, quickly becoming Webb’s preferred target to the tune of 160 yards, 14 receptions and two touchdowns.
