The Westwood Village Improvement Association is a nonprofit organization tasked with improving the state of Westwood Village. Property and business owners created the association in 2011 to provide Westwood Village with functions the City of Los Angeles could not provide. Its board of directors meets monthly.

• Executive Director Andrew Thomas said the city will repave Wilshire Boulevard from Manning Avenue to Westwood Boulevard this weekend. He added the association will trim trees in Westwood Village in late August and install new LED lights.

• Adrienne Walden said the association’s parking, access and transportation committee met last month and decided to install two UCLA bike share hubs on Broxton and Glendon avenues. Walden said the committee also discussed installing signs throughout the Village, including one on the dome of the Janss Investment Company Building.

• Thomas said Clinton Schudy, owner of Oakley’s Barber Shop, resigned from the board. Schudy’s term was set to expire at the end of the year.

• The board appointed four new board members: James Wroblewski of the W Los Angeles – West Beverly Hills, Dean Abell of Sarah Leonard Fine Jewelers, Kifishia Kawachi of Sepi’s and Flame Broiler and Bill Tucker, who owns the building on 10925 Weyburn Avenue.

• Architect John Kaliski, who taught a class in the spring that aims to improve the Westwood Village Specific Plan, gave a presentation to the board about the changes his class proposed to the plan. His class suggested creating different land use restrictions throughout four subareas, making the Village more pedestrian and bike friendly and creating a central vision for the specific plan and the association, among others.
