Quick Hits: Alleyne breaks Pac-12 record, football hires new defensive coordinator

— Oregon women’s basketball forward Jillian Alleyne broke the Pac-12 all-time rebound record on Saturday. The senior now has 1,574 career rebounds, good for fourth in NCAA history.

— Former Michigan head coach Brady Hoke was hired as the defensive coordinator for Ducks football. Hoke comes to Eugene with 30 years of experience, including 12 seasons as an FBS head coach.

Men’s basketball fell to Colorado 91-87 on Sunday, as its record fell to 3-2 in the Pac-12.

Women’s basketball defeated the Cal Bears 69-59 Saturday, earning their first conference win of the season. Jillian Alleyne finished the game with 25 points and 15 rebounds.

Men’s tennis beat Seattle U in its season opener Saturday, 6-1 in a morning match and 7-0 in the afternoon. Daan Maasland, Simon Stevens and Jayson Amos all took home singles victories.

— Indoor track and field had a successful opening week, as well, taking five event wins at the Washington Preview. Oregon sophomore Raevyn Rogers set a 600-meter indoor collegiate record.

— Four of the five new women’s tennis recruits saw the court for Oregon at the Long Beach Invitational, which ended Sunday. Each of those newcomers won their singles matches on their first day, and Oregon finished the tournament with a winning record.
