As No. 2 Oregon’s 13-game winning streak came to an end against Washington on Saturday, the Ducks potentially suffered a much bigger loss in the process.

Two-time All-American Janie Takeda left the game in the fourth inning after an outfield collision. Takeda didn’t return and her status is unknown.

The loss of Takeda seemed to take all the breath out of the Ducks as they fell 10-2 in five innings against the Huskies. This was the first time Oregon had been run-ruled in a game this season.

Half of the 10 runs Oregon gave up were earned. The Ducks committed two errors and walked two batters that added to the Huskies’ offense.

Oregon’s Geri Ann Glasco got the start in the pitcher’s circle and threw three innings, giving up four runs on five hits. She also recorded three strikeouts. Jasmine Smithson-Willett came on in relief and threw the final two innings, giving up six runs (one earned) on six hits.

Washington scored first in the third inning before adding eight more runs in the fourth inning to blow the game open. Washington capped its scoring with a solo run in the fifth inning.

Oregon had opportunities to get back in the game, but they couldn’t deliver. The Ducks loaded the bases in three different innings, but were unable to push more runs across the board.

Glasco led the Ducks by going 2-for-3 while six different players added one hit each.

Oregon plays Washington again Sunday at 2 p.m. in the final game of the series.
