The meet is the final one before the NCAA Indoor Championships, providing a last chance for teams to add to their list of qualifiers.

The headliner for Oregon was the men’s distance medley relay team, which closed out a strong day of performances, while also securing its place in the NCAA Championships.

The team consisted of Edward Cheserek, Marcus Chambers, Johnny Gregorek and Eric Jenkins. They crossed the line posting the fastest time in the country this season, finishing in 9:27.02. That is also the second fastest time in school history.

“The DMR was a true team effort,” associate head coach Andy Powell told GoDucks.com. “It’s really special when all four guys can run exceptionally well on the same relay and that’s what they did tonight. Each did their part and the result certainly showed that.”

The Ducks had three athletes competing in the men’s heptathlon, which completed four of the seven events. They were sophomore Mitch Modin, junior Alec Fellows and freshman Joe Delgado. Modin had an impressive first-day showing, putting together three indoor personal records (60 meters, long jump and the high jump).

Greg Skipper broke his own school record twice while finishing second in the weight throw. His best mark on the day was 73-7.25.

Several Oregon athletes also qualified for Saturday’s finals in their respective events. Both sophomore Sasha Wallace and redshirt senior Trevor Ferguson won their heats in the women and men’s 60 hurdles. Jasmine Todd (7.26), Jenna Prandini (7.28) and Ariana Washington (7.39) all qualified for the women’s 60 finals.

According to the USTFCCCA rankings, the Oregon men entered the meet at No. 2 while the women came in at No. 5.
