Sparks’ latest movie-adaptation filmed on campus

Actors and cameramen descended on Wake Forest’s campus on Monday to film the movie adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ The Longest Ride. Production lasted for about 12 hours, and the film is set to debut on April 3, 2015.

The story is about two couples – Ira (Alan Alda) and Ruth (Oona Chaplin); and Luke Collins (Scott Eastwood) and Sophia Danko (Britt Robertson). Ira is an older man who finds himself badly hurt and alone after a car crash. To distract himself from the pain, he reflects on his life with his late wife, Ruth. Meanwhile, at a nearby bull-riding event, Sophia is falling in love with Luke – a cowboy who is a refreshing change from the “privileged frat boys” she meets at school. Even though the two couples have very little in common, their lives intertwine in unexpected ways.
