Eugene Emeralds pick up fourth straight win against Tri-City 6-1

In the first of a five game away series, the Eugene Emeralds (4-4) defeated the Tri-City Dust Devils (3-6) 6-1. Coming off a successful week against the Boise Hawks (4-5), the Emeralds carried their offensive momentum over and have now won four straight games.

The Emeralds had a handful of batters that were active tonight. In addition to having five different players record at least two hits, totaling for 13 as a team, the Emeralds had their way at the plate against the Devils. The Emeralds also finished with four RBI’s as a team.

The Emeralds got on the board early as they put two runs in the top of the first. With back-to-back wild pitches from Tyler Gagnon (0-1), the Emeralds had the bases loaded without before being charged with an out. After Jalen Goree scored off a Robbie Perkins passed ball, Trae Santos recorded a two RBI single to center field to cap off the inning.

The Emerald bats continued to make contact in the top of the second. Once again, the Emeralds had the bases loaded early in the inning. Following a throwing error by third baseman Josh Fuentes, Jose Ruiz came in to score to give the Emeralds a 3-0 lead. Franchy Cordero added a one RBI double to center field to bring home two more runs before the end of the inning.

After three scoreless innings, both teams finished the game with one run each. For the Emeralds, it was a Trea Turner RBI single and for the Dust Devils, it was a Robbie Perkins walk that would give them their only run of the game.

Getting the win on the mound for the Emerald was pitcher Wilson Santos. After replacing starting pitcher Griffen Russell in the fifth inning, Santos gave up one hit and one run in his 1.2 innings pitched.

The Emeralds will continue their away series against the Dust Devils tomorrow night in game two. Game time is set for a 7: 15 p.m. start.
