Emerald Quick Hits: Oregon loses Eric Amoako to transfer, Jihree Stewart to commit

– For the second time this week, an Oregon football player has decided to transfer. According to DuckTerritory, redshirt sophomore defensive back Eric Amoako will leave the University of Oregon in order to be closer to his family in his home state of Texas. Amoako joins Tyrell Robinson as the second Ducks defensive player this week to announce their departure from the program.

– While Oregon saw one defensive back leave on Thursday in Amoako, the team also gained a verbal commitment from a three-star defensive back. Jihree Stewart, a 6-foot cornerback out of Centennial High School in Corona, California, announced his commitment to Oregon via his personal Twitter account. Stewart took his unofficial visit to Oregon earlier this week and decided to commit soon after, according to 247Sports.

– Oregon golfer Brandon McIver is struggling at the U.S. Open. In the first round of the tournament, the junior from Billings, Montana posted a score of 82 (+12). McIver teed off this morning at 11:21 (PT). Check back with the Emerald for updates on his performance.
