The Oregon Ducks controlled much of the first half, but with the help of three Oregon turnovers, Washington State is only down 34-24. Marcus Mariota hadn’t given up any turnovers the entire season but against Washington State, the Oregon quarterback fumbled twice, each leading to Cougars touchdowns. The second fumble resulted in recovery for a touchdown by Washington State defensive lineman Xavier Cooper (Cooper also forced the first fumble). However, thanks to some big touchdown runs by Mariota, Byron Marshall and Thomas Tyner, the Ducks go into halftime leading by 10.
