In regard to the penalty Raza told The Register-Guard “I should’ve asked the rules official, but I didn’t, because I thought I knew what to do.” Oregon golf opens fall with a Sept. 14 tournament at Washington.

Former University of Oregon football star Ed Dickson will miss some time after tearing his hamstring during practice. Dickson is a tight end with the Baltimore Ravens and is fighting for the starting job, an important battle after last season’s starter Dennis Pitta went down for the season earlier this summer. The tear was a small one for Dickson who should be able to make his way back to the field in time for the Ravens’ home opener against the Denver Broncos Sept. 5.

Tony Stewart, 43-year-old NASCAR driver, will miss a race this weekend after breaking his right leg in a sprint car race. Stewart broke his right tibia and fibula, requiring surgery at a local hospital near the Southern Iowa Speedway where the injury occurred. Stewart, a three-time NASCAR champion, was leading the race with only five laps remaining when a lapped car spun out, catching Stewart and two others. According to a physician who works with the drivers the typical recovery time for this injury is up to 12 weeks with lots of physical therapy. For Stewart this is the third time in the past month he has wrecked while competing in secondary races.
