Zone Read AM: Mac Fleet and women’s 4×400 relay team highlight day two of NCAA Championships for Oregon, two Duck baseball recruits picked in MLB draft

After trailing for most of the race, Oregon’s Mac Fleet finished first in his heat for the men’s 1,500 meters semifinal yesterday at the NCAA Track and Field Championships.

Fleet  turned on the jets in the last 200 meters to earn himself a spot in Saturday’s final at Hayward Field.

The women’s 4X400 relay team also earned a top time for the Ducks yesterday.

The relay team consisting of  Laura Roesler, Phyllis Francis, Chizoba Okodogbe and Jenna Prandini ran in 3:28.15, finishing with the best overall time in the semifinals ahead of Texas and Arkansas.

Oregon currently holds the record for the best time in an NCAA meet in the women’s 4×400 with a time of 3:24.54.

Bob Clark of the Register-Guard reports on the struggle to keep two Oregon baseball recruits after both were selected during the first day of the MLB draft yesterday.

Left-handed pitch Matt Krook was taken by the Miami Marlins and shortstop but recently converted catcher, Chance Sisco was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles.

All players have till July 12 to decide to play professionally or at the colligate level.
