Barner and Boyett both hear name called

After waiting his turn behind now 49er LaMichael James, Barner had a breakout senior season and was anticipated by many media pundits to go either in the late third or early fourth round. However, Barner fell until the sixth, and Carolina jumped at the opportunity to add another running back to their already crowded backfield.

Barner will see a familiar face in Carolina, as another former Oregon Duck, Jonathan Stewart is on the roster as well.

In addition to Barner going, former Oregon safety John Boyett was drafted number 192 overall by the Indianapolis Colts. The Napa, Calif. native missed a majority of his senior season following an injury, but prior to him missing time he was one of the top producers for Nick Aliotti’s defense.

After the draft drew to its conclusion on Saturday afternoon, several Ducks still did not know where the next chapter of their football career would take place.

However, later on Saturday evening the picture became much clearer for two former Oregon defensive standouts. Isaac Remington signed a free agent deal with the Philadelphia Eagles and will reunite with old coach Chip Kelly and Michael Clay will join Dion Jordan in Miami to play for the Dolphins.
