The Judicial Council has rejected the petitions filed against several ASUC candidates by the ASUC attorney general as most of the candidates in question lost their bids for office.

Petitions were filed last week against the entire Student Action executive slate as well as CalSERVE senate candidate Taylor Fugere for allegedly sending unsolicited emails during the campaign.

Had the candidates been found to be in violation of the bylaws, each would have received one censure.

According to ASUC Attorney General Hinh Tran, the council rejected the petitions because it did not find censures for losing candidates an effective remedy for the violations filed in the petition.

Since the deadline for the Attorney General to file petitions alleging bylaw violations has passed, the office will not re-file against any of the candidates.
