Redshirt junior forward Travis Wear expected to start against Washington

SEATTLE — After leaving the second half of UCLA’s loss to Washington State with a right foot injury, redshirt junior forward Travis Wear will play and start in Saturday’s game against Washington, coach Ben Howland said Friday.

“Travis practiced today,” Howland said. “He will play and start tomorrow assuming that there is no push back from anything that we did today, but I’m expecting him to play and start. He has only practiced 32 minutes in two weeks, prior to today’s practice.”

Wear originally sprained the foot in practice on Feb. 23, forcing him to miss wins over USC and Arizona State. He started in the team’s win over Arizona last weekend but played just 17 minutes. He was held out of the starting lineup Wednesday against Washington State and left the game with 15 minutes remaining in the second half after grabbing an offensive rebound and landing awkwardly. He spent the remainder of the game at the end of the bench with his foot in a protective wrap.

Wear is UCLA’s third leading scorer (11 points per game) and second leading rebounder (5.2 per game).
