Nation’s top linebacker prospect commits to Auburn

No. 1 overall linebacker in the country by scout.com, Reuben Foster, has de-committed from Alabama and Committed to Auburn.

“I am going to enroll to Auburn University,” Foster said. “I have a lot of respect for Alabama–the coaches… and the fans, but at the end of the day I feel like Auburn University is the place for me and my family. I am 100 percent confident with my final decision.”

The 6-foot-2, 230-pound linebacker held a press conference at Auburn High School Thursday for the announcement.

“Over the last few weeks I’ve put a lot of thought and time into where I want to finish my football career,” Foster said. “I am blessed that I am in a situation that I have several opportunities. I want to make an announcement so I can put this behind me and do the work I need to do for high school and getting prepared for college both academically and athletically.”

Foster was verbally committed to Alabama since last summer, but also had thoughts of UGA and Auburn, attending Mark Richt’s football camp last month.

Last weekend at The Opening all-star camp, Foster told 247sports.com that he was “100-percent committed” to The University of Alabama.

Foster transferred from Troup High School in LaGrange Georgia to Auburn High School earlier this year after playing three seasons in Lagrange. His coach previous, Charles Flowers, was fired in February as well for improper transfer of a player into the school district, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

“Over the last few weeks I’ve put a lot of thought and time into where I want to finish my football career. I am blessed that I am in a situation that I have several opportunities. I want to make an announcement so I can put this behind me and do the work I need to do for high school and getting prepared for college both academically and athletically.”
