Jerry Sandusky’s adopted son Matt Sandusky revealed Thursday that he was sexually abused by the former defensive coordinator, according to a statement issued by his attorney Andrew Shubin on his behalf.According to the statement, Matt was prepared to testify for the prosecution if his father took the stand in his trial. As of 5 p.m. Thursday, jurors were still deliberating about the Sandusky case, in which Sandusky himself did not testify.

According to the statement, Matt contacted his attorneys to ask for advice for reporting that he is a “victim of Jerry Sandusky’s abuse.”

“This has been an extremely painful experience for Matt as he has asked us to convey his request that the media respect his privacy. There will be no further comment at this time,” according to the statement.

Prior to the trial, Matt’s ex-wife Jill Thomas released a statement that said Sandusky “inappropriately touched” one of her and Matt’s sons.

Sandusky is currently charged with 48 counts of sexual abuse of 10 boys he met through his charity, The Second Mile. He has not been charged with abusing his adopted son.
