Sandusky’s attorney files for postponement of trial

By Mindy Szkaradnik

Jerry Sandusky’s attorney motioned today to postpone the former assistant football coach’s trial until mid-July 2012 — several months after the May 14 start date proposed by Senior Judge John Cleland, who is presiding over the case.

Joe Amendola, Sandusky’s attorney, wrote in the motion that due to the voluminous amount of information involved in the case, he needs more time to prepare Sandusky’s defense.

He also asked the court in the motion to extend the time for him to file a omnibus pretrial motion to March 22 and to extend the time to file a reply to the Commonwealth’s response to his Application for a Bill of Particulars and the response to his Motion to Compel Discovery.
