Social network College Twist focuses on college experience

Move over, Facebook. There’s another way for students to avoid studying, and it’s called College Twist.

The social networking website, designed for college students, recently came to U. Florida and five other universities. It was founded a year ago by two Florida Atlantic U. students.

On the site, students can share photos, create events and join discussions about their universities.

Daniel Levin, director of campus management for College Twist at UF, said he thinks students can benefit from the site because it could help students become more active by being better informed.

College Twist co-founder Brandon Forschino, 21, said he and Patrick Daleen, 20, chose to bring the site to UF because of its school spirit and large student body.

It is different from other social networking sites, like Facebook, because the site isn’t about the individual user.

“We like to tell people we’re not a social network,” Forschino said. “It’s not about sharing your life with the rest of the world. It’s all about having a source to connect with other users at your school and other schools.”
