Falcons fall to Golden Hurricane, 33-20

Penalties and turnovers proved to be too much as Bowling Green fell to the Tulsa Golden Hurricane, 33-20.

Making his second career start, quarterback Matt Schilz, threw three interceptions including two deep in Tulsa territory and penalties negated two would be touchdowns by wide receiver Kamar Jordan.

Jordan hauled in a hail mary as time expired in the first half that was negated due to offensive pass interference. In the third quarter Jordan received a short pass from Schilz and broke multiple tackles on his way to a 79-yard touchdown, however it was called back thanks to holding.

Both would have been Jordan’s — who was the game’s leader in receptions — first career touchdown as a Falcon.

Tulsa quarterback GJ Kinne threw two first half touchdown passes and Alex Singleton scored on a 3-yard run to build a 27-14 lead before the half.

In the second half Tulsa kicker Kevin Fitzpatrick converted a pair of field goals, while Schilz scored on a 2-yard run late in the fourth quarter.

It was Schilz second rushing touchdown of the day, he gave BG an early 7-0 lead after Tulsa fumbled on their opening drive.

BG’s other touchdown was also a short 1-yard run, as Willie Geter dove in for the score after Dwayne Woods had returned an interception to the 1-yard line in the second quarter.

BG returns home next weekend when the host the Marshal Thundering Herd at Doyt Perry Stadium. Last year they fell to Marshall 17-10 in Huntington, West Virginia.
