Salt Lake City’s first beer festival kicks off this weekend

By Elisa Schvaneveldt

In a state with a large number of liquor laws, an event supporting alcohol may seem unthinkable. Yet here it is: Salt Lake City’s first annual Beer Festival.

Taking place this Saturday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., the festival will feature samples from more than 10 breweries. The samples will be just three ounces in size and designated driver tickets will be sold for $5 in the City Weekly office or on the day of the event. A portion of the earnings will be donated to Local First Utah.

The festival will be located at the City and County Building on 451 S. State Street. The event is for adults 21 and over. Tickets are $25 in advance and $35 the day of the festival.
