SGA Senator up for impeachment

By Meghan Linder

A UCF Student Government Association senator is up for impeachment after a fellow student senator accused him of being intoxicated in the SGA office.

According to the impeachment affidavit, the senator came to the office after he had allegedly been drinking at Knight Library during a World Cup game. The senatorĀ  “began yelling and running around the office” and yelled that he was “hammered” and “wasted.”

The senator’s name has been redacted from the affidavit.

The senator is also accused of driving an SGA golf cart on campus while intoxicated. The affidavit says Adviser Christa Coffey repeatedly called and asked the senator to bring the golf cart back.

After he returned the golf cart, the senator attended a Senate meeting. The affidavit says the senator’s “eyes were red” and their “speech was slurred” during the meeting.

According to the affadavit, the senator violated university bylaws by misusing SGA property.

The affadavit also says the senator is accused of saying, “We don’t do [expletive deleted] and get paid for it.”

The accuser described the senator’s actions as “unbecoming of a Student Senator and UCF employee.”

A name appears in the affidavit but at this moment the Central Florida Future cannot confirm these charges on the accused. Updates will follow as we receive more information.
