UCF to play South Carolina in home-and-home series

The U. Central Florida Knights have agreed to a home-and-home series against the South Carolina Gamecocks.

According to The State, the SEC foe will visit Bright House Networks Stadium on Sept. 28, 2013, with the Knights traveling to Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, S.C. on Sept. 26, 2015.

Each program will pay the visiting team a $300,000 guarantee for cover expenses, according toThe State.

UCF has faced South Carolina three times in its history, losing all three games. The Knights lost 33-14 in 1996, their first year in Division 1-A. The following season, UCF could not hold onto its lead and fell to the Gamecocks, 33-31.

The most recent meeting came in the 2005 season opener. In Steve Spurrier’s first game as the head coach of South Carolina, they defeated the Knights in a closely contested game, winning 24-15.
