Former employees charged in U. Kansas ticket scandal

By Corey Thibodeaux

Former U. Kansas Assistant Athletic Director Brandon Simmons is being charged with having knowledge regarding the ticket scandal.

According to the court document released Wednesday, from around 2005 to 2010, Simmons knew $5,000 worth of tickets were stolen and did not report it.

Jason Jeffries, the assistant director of ticket operations, was charged with first count misprision of a felony for the same act.

Simmons is the first to be charged out of six employees accused of selling $1.03 million worth of tickets.

The release of claim most likely means he will enter a guilty plea because it needs consent of the defendant.

Simmons’ hearing is scheduled for July 15 at 11 a.m. in U.S. District Court in Topeka.

Jeffries’ is set for a hearing July 14 in Wichita.
