Former Hawkeye football player’s trial officially pushed back

By Ryan Roccaforte

An order continuing trial and scheduling a status conference of a former Hawkeye football player was approved by the 6th Judicial District of Iowa on Thursday.

Cedric Everson, 21, will have his status conference at 8:30 a.m. July 23.

The meeting will establish a new pretrial conference and trial date, according to court records.

The original trial date, set for July 12, has been pushed back because of personal health concerns of Everson’s attorney, Leon Spies.

According to court records, the status conference will take place just 30 minutes before the sentencing of Abe Satterfield, who was accused in the same incident and has pleaded guilty to assault with intent to inflict serious injury.
