Former LSU safety Chad Jones undergoing surgery after car accident

By Michael Lambert

Former LSU safety Chad Jones was in a car accident Friday morning on Carrollton Avenue in New Orleans, according to wwltv.com.

The website is now reporting that Jones suffered a “fractured left leg and had arteries and nerves exposed.”

He is undergoing surgery after being listed in critical condition.

Reports indicate Jones was taken to the Trauma Center at LSU Public Hospital.

Jones was a third round pick by the New York Giants in this year’s NFL Draft.

The Baton Rouge native doubled as a star safety on the gridiron and a pitcher for the LSU baseball team, earning national titles with both.

LSU football coach Les Miles’ Twitter account was updated around 10 a.m. saying he “just got news about Chad Jones’ car accident.”

“We are praying for Chad and his family,” Miles said on his Twitter account. “Keep him in your prayers.”
