Pauley Pavilion public memorial service for John Wooden set for June 26

By James Barragan

Pauley Pavilion will honor John Wooden for the final time on June 26, when a public memorial service for the late coach is scheduled to take place.

The memorial will begin at 11 a.m. and last approximately 90 minutes. A satellite channel will broadcast the memorial to live television; it will also be available for viewing on the UCLA website.

Pauley Pavilion will open its doors at 9 a.m. and approximately 6,000 middle and upper level seats will be available to the public on a general admission basis.

Floor seats will be reserved for the Wooden family, Bruin basketball players and coaches, as well as other designated guests, according to a statement by Marc Dellins, sports information director at UCLA.

Two video boards in Drake Stadium will broadcast the event for those who are not admitted into Pauley.

Further information on the details and proceedings of the memorial will be released late next week, Dellins said.
