Student to burn American flag in peaceful protest
Benjamin Haas, communication studies graduate student, will burn an American flag tomorrow at noon on the Parade Ground as part of a peaceful protest, according to Cody Wells, Student Government president. Wells said Haas is exercising his First Amendment right to burn the flag.

Students work to promote sweatshop-free apparel
Following in the footsteps of UCLA, A.S. Council unanmiously passed a resolution on May 4 requesting the UCSD bookstore promote sweatshop-free apparel. UCLA passed its corresponding resolution after a demonstration by students in February; the school hopes to increase revenue to over $16,000.

Thousands celebrate in Penn State’s Beaver Canyon following Osama bin Laden’s death
Thousands of students are celebrating outside Beaver Canyon and in the HUB-Robeson Center after word broke late Sunday night that Osama bin Laden has been killed. They have flooded Beaver Avenue, chanting "USA" and "F--k bin Laden," singing patriotic songs and waving flags.
