Photos: Oregon women’s basketball — Ducks defeat Arizona Wildcats 90-78 in final home game

The Oregon women’s basketball team (14-14, 5-12 Pac-12) hosts the University of Arizona Wildcats (5-24, 1-17 Pac-12) at Matthew Knight Arena on March 2. After an exciting home win against No. 20 Arizona State University, the Ducks are looking to keep the momentum up for the rest of the regular season. For the last home game of the regular season, the Ducks will be recognizing five seniors: Danielle Love, Chynna Miley, Laura Stanulis and Ariel Thomas, in addition to manager Kevin Wade. On top of that, sophomore Jillian Alleyne broke the Oregon single-season record with her 25th double-double and reached 1,000 career points faster than any player in school history.

The Ducks are headed to the Pac-12 tournament at Key Arena in Seattle, Wash., on March 6.

Photos: Oregon Baseball — Ducks handle Portland Pilots 8-2 in season home opener

The Oregon Ducks have their first home game this season against the University of Portland Pilots on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 6 p.m. at PK Park in Eugene, Ore. Oregon is looking to win its fourth home opener in the last six seasons. After winning the first five away games of the season, Oregon head coach George Horton hopes to continue the streak during the first home opener. The Ducks are picked second in the preseason Pac-12 Coaches Poll as well as ranked No. 9 in the Baseball America Poll.

Next, the Ducks will play its first ranked opponent in a three-game series against No. 5 Cal State Fullerton on Friday, Feb. 28 at PK Park in Eugene, Ore.

Photos: Oregon mens basketball — Ducks handle Huskies 78-71 in Dana Altmans’ 500th career win

The Oregon men’s basketball team (16-8, 4-8 in Pac-12) hosts the University of Washington Huskies (14-12, 6-7 in Pac-12) at Matthew Knight Arena on Feb. 19. After a 93-83 win against the Oregon State Beavers on Feb. 16, the Ducks are hoping to continue the momentum with tournament season right around the corner. The Ducks last played the Washington Huskies on Jan. 23 in Seattle, but they couldn’t hold on and lost 80-72. They’re looking to rally and use their home court advantage to come out with a win.

Next, the Ducks face the Washington State University Cougars Sunday, Feb. 23 at Matthew Knight Arena.

Photos: Greek life rocks the house at Sigma Chi Derby Days dance finale

Throughout the week sororities competed in a social media competition, tee shirt signing, house decorations, and a coin drive, in order to contribute to fundraising for the Beta Iota chapter of Sigma Chi Derby Days Philanthropy. On Thursday Feb. 13 the sororities perform a dance with costumes and music that portray the theme they have chosen in the Gerlinger Annex. The money raised goes to the N7 Fund, which commits itself to bringing sports and their benefits to Native American and Aboriginal communities in the United States and Canada. After the end of the dance competition, the judges deliberate and decide who the dance champion is.

Photos: Oregon women’s basketball – Colorado Buffaloes narrowly defeat Oregon Ducks 81-75

The Oregon women’s basketball team (13-9, 4-7 in Pac-12) hosts the University of Colorado Buffaloes (13-9, 3-8 in Pac-12) Monday, Feb. 10 at Matthew Knight Arena. The game was supposed to be held on Sunday, Feb. 9, but due to the snow and inclement weather the game was rescheduled. Coming off a 93-71 win against the Utah Utes, the Ducks are looking to improve their Pac-12 standing before the start of the Pac-12 tournament on March 6.

The Oregon Ducks play the USC Trojans next at Matthew Knight Arena on Friday, Feb. 14 at 7:30 p.m.

The Oregon Ducks (14-5, 2-5 Pac-12) host the UCLA Bruins (16-4, 5-2 Pac-12) at Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene, Ore. on Jan. 30, 2014. Coming off an away win against the Washington State Cougars, the Ducks are looking to improve their Pac-12 standing before tournament season begins. Averaging 85.9 points per game, fourth in the nation, the Ducks hope they can beat the Bruins for the third year in a row.

Next up for Oregon is a home game against the USC Trojans on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 5:00 p.m.

Photos: Oregon men’s hockey — Ducks fall to Huskies 3-2 in the final I-5 Cup series game

After a 1-0 win at home on Jan. 24, the Oregon Ducks lose 3-2 to the Washington Huskies to finish off the fourth and final game of the University of Washington series where the teams played for the I-5 Cup. After playing four games against each other, the teams were tied, forcing a shootout. The Huskies took it away after sinking two goals in the net while the Ducks went 0-3. Although the team started off strong when Oregon Oregon forward Dan Sulitzer (24) scored the first goal of the game in the first five minutes, the Ducks slowly lost momentum and lost their ninth game of the season.

The Oregon Ducks will take on the College of the Canyons on Jan. 31 in Eugene, Ore.

Photos: Oregon Women’s Basketball — Oregon Ducks stomp Princeton Tigers 110-90

The Oregon Ducks played their first Ivy League opponent, the New Jersey Princeton University Tigers, at Matthew Knight Arena on Sunday, Dec. 1. The Oregon Ducks had a slow start as they were trailing at the half, but after a halftime pep talk by head coach Paul Westhead, they were able to clench the victory with a final score of 110-90. Oregon sophomore Jillian Alleyne (14) had a great game and scored 27 points and had 12 rebounds. The Ducks are now 4-2 this season.

The Oregon Ducks will play the Seattle University Redhawks on Wednesday, Dec. 4 at Key Arena in Seattle, Wash.

Photos: Campus Twins Apartment Complex Fire

A fire broke out at the Campus Twins apartment complex on 14th and Alder Street in Eugene, Ore. on Nov. 23, 2013. Many students gathered around the area to see why there was a large cloud of black smoke so close to campus. Several members of the Eugene Fire Department said there are no injuries, and there is no known cause.

Photos: Oregon women’s basketball — Ducks roll past Portland Pilots 113-86

The Oregon women’s basketball team hosted a blackout game against the Portland Pilots for their second regular season game. Students were encouraged to wear black for the “Lights Out” game, and glow sticks were given out to fans as they entered the arena. The first 500 students who arrived for the game were also awarded a Pit Crew shirt and granted early access for the upcoming men’s basketball game against Western Carolina on Wednesday night.

Oregon faces Sacramento State next on Sunday, Nov. 17 at 2 p.m., in Matthew Knight Arena.
