Photos: Oregon baseball outpaced by Cal Bears 5-3 in final series game

The Oregon Ducks played the Cal Bears in the last game of the regular season on Saturday, May 24 at PK Park in Eugene, Oregon. After two innings of play, the Ducks were down 4-0 because of infield errors and miscommunication. The team rallied and eventually were only down by two runs after the bottom of the fifth inning. Although the Ducks played a great defensive game for the last two innings, they were unable to score again and lost 5-3.

Photos: Oregon hammers No. 1 Oregon State 6-2 in final Civil War matchup

The Oregon Ducks played the No. 1 Oregon State Beavers at PK Park on Tuesday, May 20, 2014. Oregon catcher Shaun Chase scored the first run of the game hitting a home run over the center field wall. After the Ducks were down 2-1 at the bottom of the seventh inning, Tyler Baumgartner and Mitchell Tolman led the Ducks to a 3-2 lead before Chase’s second long ball of the game. Between Chase’s two home runs and eight solid hits for the Ducks, Oregon was able to conquer the Beavers with a 6-2 win.

Next, the Ducks have a three-game home series against University of California Berkeley starting on Thursday, May 22.

Photos: Lane County residents celebrate end of same-sex marriage ban

At 12 p.m. sharp, news broke that the state of Oregon ended the ban of gay marriage. Outside of the U.S. District Court Clerk on 8th and Ferry street in Eugene, couples and activists alike celebrated the news with hugs, kisses and tears of joy. Quickly after, couples headed to the Lane County Courthouse down the street at 8th and Oak to begin lining up to receive their marriage licenses. About 50 couples were already waiting after the ruling, and the court began granting same-sex marriages at 1 p.m.

Photos: Oregon softball slides by Wisconsin 6-1

The No. 1 ranked Oregon Softball team defeats the University of Wisconsin Badgers 6-1 during the second round of regionals on Saturday, May 17 at Howe Field in Eugene, Oregon. Both teams had a slow start to the game, and no one scored a run until the third inning. Wisconsin answered during the top of the fourth with a home run from outfielder Stephanie Peace. After two more slow innings, the Ducks heated up and scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, including two-run homer by catcher Janelle Lindvill resulting in a 6-1 win.

The Ducks will play in the third round of regionals on Sunday, May 17 at 1 p.m. at Howe Field in Eugene, Oregon.

YG and DJ Mustard perform at Dusk, formerly known as Studio 44, on Thursday, May 15 in Eugene. Keenon Daequan Ray Jackson, known as YG, has the number one best selling rap album on iTunes right now and has collaborated with big names like Jeezy and Rich Homie Quan. Oregon’s own Jack Graham, known as Hooligan Ri, opened for the rapper and DJ. Graham was voted as University of Oregon’s best artist and has a single out called “Dennis Rodman.”

Photos: Oregon baseball blasts past Pacific Tigers 14-8

The Oregon Ducks hosted the University of the Pacific Tigers at PK Park in Eugene, Oregon, on May 13, 2014. The first three innings started off slow for the Pacific considering they only scored one run while the Ducks had four under their belt. By the bottom of the sixth, the Pacific scored six more runs, and the Ducks only led by two. After Oregon catcher Shaun Chase (16) hit two home runs, the game was decided and Oregon beat the Tigers 14-8.

The Ducks head south on Friday, May 16 to Los Angeles for a three game series against UCLA.

The UO Coalition to End Sexual Violence, Safe Ride, the Women’s Center and other campus groups took a stand to support sexual assault survivors on Thursday, May 8. Students and faculty gathered on the lawn by Hendricks Hall prior to making their way to Johnson Hall. Demonstration participants marched to Johnson Hall in silence and began chanting once inside. Oregon administration representatives refused to comment and the rally continued on the steps of the administration building.

Photos: Oregon baseball slams Arizona 5-1 to end series

The Oregon Ducks played the Arizona Wildcats in the final game of a three-game series on May 4, 2014 at PK Park in Eugene. The Ducks won all three games and ended with a 5-1 blowout. During the bottom of the eighth inning, Oregon catcher Shaun Chase hit a grand slam resulting in four runs for the Ducks. Even with a rain delay and a slow start, the Ducks were able to close out the series with a solid win.

Photos: Oregon baseball – Ducks slide past Arizona in extra innings 7-6

The Oregon Ducks beat the Arizona Wildcats 7-6 in ten innings at PK Park in Eugene on Saturday, May 3, 2014. After the bottom of the sixth inning, the Ducks were trailing 5-2 and the Wildcats’ spirits were high. A few pitching errors and several hits later, the Ducks were able to tie up the game 6-6 by the bottom of the seventh inning. With no scoring for two more innings, the game went into its tenth inning where Oregon outfielder Austin Grebeck (22) had the final hit to win the game 7-6.

Photos: Oregon Football — Team Mariasu beats Team Twifo in spring game matchup 27-7

The Oregon football team played a spring scrimmage on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Autzen Stadium. After one half of regular playing time and another of a constant running clock, Team Mariasu, sporting green, beat team Twifo 27-7. Between the two teams, fans got a chance to see some new faces play like wide receiver Johnathan Loyd (10) and quarterback Damion Hobbs (2). The game began with running back Thomas Tyner (24) scoring the first touch down and ended with a long pass to wide receiver Devon Allen (13). After the gave was over, players gave their jerseys to Armed Forces members and walked them off the field.
