Photos: Oregon women’s tennis — Ducks take first win of the season against USC Upstate

The No. 71 Oregon women’s tennis team won their first match of the season against the University of South Carolina Upstate Spartans on Friday, Jan. 24. The Ducks won two of the three doubles matches and won six of six in singles. Their next match-up is on Sunday, Jan. 26 against the Eastern Washington Eagles at 4 p.m.

Photos: Oregon Men’s Basketball — Ducks lose second straight home game 82-80 to Stanford Cardinal

Posted on 12 January 2014.

The No. 17 Oregon Ducks lose the Stanford Cardinal 82-80 in their only regular season meeting of the season at Matthew Knight Arena Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014. The Ducks were looking to bounce back after suffering a 83-96 loss in their first Pac-12 home game of the season against the California Golden Bears on Jan. 9 at Matthew Knight Arena. This is their third loss in Pac-12 play.

Next up for Oregon is a trip to Corvallis to take on the Oregon State Beavers on Sunday, Jan. 19.

Photos: Oregon Men’s Basketball — No. 17 Ducks fall to the California Bears 96-83

The No. 17 Oregon Ducks lose 96-83 in their PAC12 home opener against the California Golden Bears at Matthew Knight Arena Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014. The Ducks were looking to bounce back after suffering a 91-100 loss against Colorado on Jan. 5 in their first conference game of the season. Last year, the Bears beat the Ducks in their last meeting at Matthew Knight Arena by 48-46, and are also coming off a six-day break and victory over Stanford.

Next up for Oregon is a home matchup against Stanford on Sunday, Jan. 12.

The 21st Alamo Bowl features the No. 10 Oregon Ducks vs. the Texas Longhorns. Texas (8-4) is looking to send off its iconic coach with a win after 16-year veteran Mack Brown announced his resignation after the Bowl game. The Ducks (10-2) are playing in their first non-BCS game in five years, but are hoping for a fifth consecutive season with at least 11 victories and a top 10 ranking. While the game sold out in record time, Oregon fans are expected to be few and far between as the 1,600 mi. trek to San Antonio during the holidays proved less than ideal for Ducks. Oregon will be competing in their brand-new Nike uniforms in white, as they are the visitor against the Longhorns.

Photo countdown: One day to the Alamo Bowl

There is only one day left until the 2013 Alamo Bowl where the Oregon Ducks will face the Texas Longhorns. Every day we’ll post a meaningful photo from the year to recap the eventful season and get fans prepped for Oregon’s matchup in the Lone Star State. Be sure to check out the rest of the Emerald’s football coverage leading up to the game.

De’Anthony Thomas is one of Oregon’s players that made them the icon of speed they are known for today. Though Thomas was injured during the game against California in October which took him out for part of the regular season, the Los Angeles native still managed to rack up 581 yards and 8 touchdowns this year so far. With an impressive 4.34 second 4o-yard dash, De’Anthony Thomas has thrilled Oregon fans for the past three years with his agility and ability to score fast. Whether it’s scoring a touchdown on the opening kickoff or managing to avoid being tackled by multiple defenders on a run, all eyes will be on Thomas during the Alamo Bowl as he will be expected to play at full, Oregon-like speed.

Photo countdown: One day to the Alamo Bowl

Both the University of Texas and University of Oregon football teams attended the Valero Alamo Bowl Kickoff Luncheon at the Marriott Rivercenter Grand Ballroom on Sunday, December 30th. The Ducks will face the Longhorns on Monday, December 30th in the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio, Texas. Kickoff is at 5:50 p.m. local time.
