Oregon football kicked off the start of early fall practices / pre-season camp with a media day event. Sports journalists and photographers flocked to the Casanova Center for an early peak at both the new look Helfrich-led Ducks and Hatfield-Dowlin Complex.

Photos: Annual block party attracts thousands to Whiteaker neighborhood

The Whiteaker Block Party livened up the local neighborhood Saturday, bringing a constant stream of music from nine different concert stages, arts and crafts from local artisans and entertainment from a variety of performance groups. The Block Party is in its seventh year, growing larger with each passing year.

The Casanova Center, along with a few other facilities at Autzen Stadium, have been going through some pretty major renovations as of late. The $68 million facilities contain everything from new locker rooms for players to offices for athletic department officials and press conference rooms. The photos below have all been provided by GoDucks.com and were taken by Eric Evans.

The latest addition to the Oregon athletics facilities complex is the Football Performance Center, which was opened for business this week.

Photos: Day two of the Lane County Fair hosts a variety of attendees and entertainers

The Lane County Fair is back in Eugene for its annual summer celebration held at the Lane County Fairgrounds from July 24 through July 28. Admissions fees are $9 for adults (13-64) and $6 for youth (6-12). The Lane County Fair celebration features amusement park rides, food, music, animal exhibits and more.

Photos: Bite of Eugene brings food, music and more to Alton Baker Park

The fifth annual Bite of Eugene returned to Alton Baker Park on Saturday. Residents from all over Eugene and Springfield showed up to see the annual Iron Chef Eugene competition, eat freshly-prepared food from local restaurants and enjoy the overall festivities that accompany the festival.

The Iron Chef Eugene competition was delayed by more than an hour after Chef Brendan  Mahaney of Belly pulled out at the last second. A replacement was shortly found but he didn't make it out of the first round. (Nate Barrett/Emerald)
