Over spring break, several Emerald photographers traveled across North America and documented their travels.
Photographers Michael Arellano and Michael Shaw embarked on an ambitious, nine-day road trip totaling nearly 3,000 miles that began in Eugene, Ore. After spending two nights in Olympic National Park in Washington, the pair crossed into Canada and spent a night in Kamloops, British Columbia en route to Banff and Jasper in Alberta. The Icefields Parkway road that connects the towns of Banff and Jasper has been described as “… one of the most scenic drives in the world; National Geographic Traveler magazine identified the whole Banff-Jasper route as one of their 20 drives of a lifetime” by tripadvisor.com. After four nights in Canada, Shaw and Arellano crossed back into the U.S. and drove to Palouse Falls in LaCrosse, Wash., before their final night camping along the Columbia Gorge in Oregon.
Ryan Kang and Natalie Hardwicke contributed stunning images from their hometown stays in San Francisco and Chicago.
Seven national parks, 2,800 miles driven, two countries, five states and two Canadian provinces.
These are their favorite photos.
