“James Lafferty, because he plays Nathan Scott in the TV series One Tree Hill. Nathan doesn’t know this yet but our wedding song is going to be, “September,” by Earth, Wind & Fire.

“I’d like to say chocolate and macaroni & cheese, but probably my grandparent’s lake house in Maine. My family and I go up there during the summer and the scenery is extremely relaxing since it’s in the middle of nowhere. We invite up a bunch of friends and family, have cookouts, go tubing, go on boat rides and basically hang outside all day in the yard or in the water. Being by the water helps me forget about any of the stress in my life.”

“What drives me to do better and to keep working hard is my dance students back home. They encourage me to work hard dancing at school and to set a good example for them. They look up to me and are always excited to hear about my experiences. Teaching them gives me encouragement to be the best I can be and share as much knowledge as I can with them. Most importantly, they never let me forget my dance studio back home, where my love of dance came from.”

“The college experience extends far beyond the academic goal of attaining a degree. It’s an opportunity to grow as an individual and understand different perspectives on life. Keene State College is a unique and special New England school, offering four beautifully changing seasons. From the vibrant fall foliage, best seen from the summit of Mount Monadnock, to the snow-filled winters, where students flock to the numerous nearby ski resorts, KSC Owls are never bored. If there’s one area where Keene students excel, it’s having a good time. The benefits of attending a social college will extend into the work place, as Keene State graduates are networking experts. It’s almost impossible to not make a friend or two walking down Appian Way, as our campus radiates a friendly vibe unlike any other. I urge incoming and current students to take advantage of all KSC has to offer. Study abroad, join multiple clubs, stay active at the gym, learn to love the library and try not to blink because before you know it, college is over. I’ve learned more about myself in past four years than I ever would have expected and there is no other place I would have rather achieved this experience at. For the people I’ve met, the places I’ve explored and the perspectives I’ve gained, thank you KSC.”

“Honestly, I would say traveling somewhere up north with my girlfriends, renting a log cabin close to a ski resort, snowboarding all day and then going back to our house to relax next to a fire.”

In Rhode Island, by far my favorite place is on the water, which of course isn’t hard when most of the state is covered in coastline. There are a number of reasons that on the water I am my happiest, whether or not I am on a boat, stand-up paddling, surfing or swimming, I can honestly say I haven’t had a bad day on the water yet. It helps that I’m always with my friends and family and a good time is rest assured. I have taken advantage of the awesome town of Middletown that my parents picked to raise my sister and I.

“The biggest personal change I’ve made is applying myself more academically. I’ve been working towards staying focused in class and spending more time in the library. Learning how to manage my time balancing courses, athletics and a fun social life was hard at first, especially at a school as great as Keene State, but I’m constantly reminding myself that what I put into my learning is what I get out of it. I am making the most of my time here in Keene and I feel like it’s making me a more well-rounded person.”

“To get rewarded for hard work. When I witness small acts of kindness. To see the innocence in children. To know that I will be supported during hard times. To think that there’s always more to learn and room to grow. When I reminisce on good memories. To know that I have the opportunity to get a college education. To make someone smile.”
