Packers fanbase alive in Minneapolis

By: Sam Kraemer

When Green Bay’s Eddie Lacy caught a pass at the start of the fourth quarter, eluded his defenders and ran into the end zone, fans in TCF Bank Stadium hollered and cheered.

Later, chants of “Go Pack Go” rang throughout the stadium as fans filed for the exits after the Packers defeated the Minnesota Vikings 24-21.

Despite being 275 miles away from Lambeau Field, many University of Minnesota students were able to take a short walk to see their favorite team when the Packers came to Minneapolis on Sunday to take on their division rival Vikings.

Minnesota overcomes adversity in road victory

By: Matt Greenstein

The Gophers were trailing 29-31 at halftime against Memphis.

But they fought back, winning a close 68-62 game to stay unblemished on the season.

Early foul trouble for redshirt sophomore center Amanda Zahui B. and senior guard Rachel Banham contributed to the Gophers’ having to overcome the deficit.

“I thought we fought through a lot of adversity. I had to sit in the first half. Amanda sat the end of the first half. A lot of people stepped up,” Banham said.

Kroells excels on, off mat

By: Danny Chen

After two-time NCAA champion Tony Nelson graduated last spring, the Gophers wrestling program had a vacant starting spot at the heavyweight position.

Redshirt sophomore Michael Kroells has taken Nelson’s spot and has big shoes to fill.

The wrestling team has had 22 individual national championships, and seven of them have been heavyweights.

Kroells, who is 2-0 to start the season, has a chance to add to that winning tradition.

Head assistant coach Brandon Eggum said Kroells has a chance to become great because of his discipline.
