Crime alert: two robbed near Dinkytown

Two people were robbed early Thursday morning near Dinkytown near the intersection of 8th Street Southeast and 14th Avenue Southeast, according to a crime alert sent by University of Minnesota police Chief Greg Hestness.

One of the two victims is a University student. Both were unharmed but had their purses and a cell phone taken.

The suspect emerged from bushes near a house and demanded the two victims’ valuables as they walked northbound on 14th Avenue Southeast, the alert said.

Crime alert: student molested near campus

A University of Minnesota student was allegedly molested early Friday evening outside of campus near the intersection of Huron Boulevard and Essex Street SE. 

According to a crime alert from University Police Chief Greg Hestness, the incident occurred at 5:30 p.m. when the student was walking southbound on the east side of Huron Boulevard.  The victim reported she believed the suspect was following her for several blocks, the alert said.

Board approves psychiatric drug trial suspension

The University of Minnesota Board of Regents unanimously approved plans Friday to make the school’s human subjects research program “beyond reproach” after two external reports highlighted areas of concern where the University should improve their protection practices.
