Two University of Minnesota students were robbed and stabbed early Monday just outside the Marcy-Holmes neighborhood, according to Minneapolis police.
The women, who are roommates, were walking home from downtown around 12:15 a.m. when a masked man began following them, Minneapolis police Sgt. Jesse Garcia said.
As the women stopped at the intersection of Hennepin Avenue East and University Avenue Northeast, the man grabbed one of them by the waist, held a knife to her throat, and demanded money, Garcia said.

Walking on a treadmill may increase employee's overall work performance, according to a study released by Calson School of Management on Monday.
The study followed 40 employees in a financial services company for one year to explore how the availability of treadmill workstations affected their performance and interactions with coworkers.
According to the study, the participants experienced "a significantly favorable impact on both physical activity and work performance."

No charges will be filed in a sexual assault reported near campus earlier this week, police said Wednesday.
There is no evidence a crime occurred, police spokesman John Elder said.
A 25-year-old woman reported being assaulted at an off-campus apartment early Monday, according to a police report. The apartment was rented to at least three University of Minnesota athletes, who were listed as neither suspects nor witnesses in the report.

A University of Minnesota student was found dead Monday in an apparent murder-suicide near Rochester, according to the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office.
Kayla Koranda, 18, was visiting her longtime friend Nicholas Roecker in New Haven Township, Minn., when Roecker shot her and himself. Police found Koranda dead at the scene. Roecker, 19, died after being taken to the Mayo Clinic.
Family members told police that Roecker, a University of Minnesota-Duluth student, had depression. Both Roecker and Koranda graduated from a Rochester high school last year.

A body found under the Stone Arch Bridge Sunday morning has been identified as that of freshman Jacob Anderson, 19. The cause of death hasn't been released, but police said in a release Sunday they don't suspect foul play.
"On behalf of the University of Minnesota, I extend my deepest sympathies to the family of Jacob W. Anderson," Vice Provost for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Danita Brown Young said in a statement Sunday night.
